Thanks for installing Mobile View. Here’s how to drop a real device frame right on top of any page and see desktop and mobile at once.
Click the extensions (puzzle) icon at the top-right of Chrome, then click the pin next to “Mobile View” so its icon stays in your toolbar.
Navigate to a normal site (an http:// or https:// page) and click the
Mobile View icon. From version 4.2.0, the preview opens directly without Mobile View’s own first-use access chooser. Once Chrome approves the required permission during installation or an update, access to all sites is the default unless you restrict it in Chrome.
You can change site access to “On click”, “On specific sites” or “On all sites” in Chrome’s built-in extension menu or settings. Mobile View has no separate site-access setting. If you restrict access and a site needs a persistent grant for its preview, a recovery dialog may offer access to that site or all sites, subject to Chrome’s approval.
Use the device button 📱 ▾ in the top panel to switch between iPhone, Android phones and tablets. Rotate with ⟳, scale with the size menu 100% (50–125%) and drag the device anywhere — or hit focus to dim the desktop and center the device.
Click the devices button ▾ in the top panel and pick how many to show (1–5). Each device keeps its own model, rotation, size and brand color, and a side dock (left or right) keeps them one click away. In focus mode you can arrange them in a row, grid or stack — and lock it so a stray click or Esc won’t exit. Add or remove from the keyboard with Shift + = / Shift + −.
Scrolling, clicks and typing stay synchronized between the desktop page and the mobile preview. Toggle sync ⇅ on or off from the top panel.
Click the camera and choose device only 📱 (cropped to the frame) or full screen 🖥️ (desktop and device together) — perfect for mockups and bug reports.
Click record to capture a full screen recording. It records the current tab right away — no “share your screen” dialog — and the video is saved straight to your device as an MP4 or WebM file; nothing is ever uploaded.
Tip: Your device, rotation, position, theme and language are saved and restored across tabs and reloads. Some browser pages (like chrome:// settings) can’t be previewed — open a regular website instead.
